Great Turnout for Mimosas with Melanie

October 6, 2007

Well over 100 Republicans applauded enthusiastically as KSFO Talk Show Host and Move America Forward Chairman, Melanie Morgan talked about her recent caravan across the US in support of our troops.

Cat (Catherine) Moy, co-author of the book American Mourning, with Melanie added much to the talk telling of her experiences in meeting with President Bush and Laura at the White House.

While the crowd continued to enjoy their mimosas and continental breakfast, Melanie and Catherine signed copies of their book.  Melanie only took a break to draw the raffle winners for a Studio Morning with Melanie.  The lucky folks who will be joining Melanie in the studio while she does her morning show are Jon Cook and Sharon Weger (SVARW’s Recording Secretary).  All of the proceeds from the raffle (over $500) went to Move America Forward and will be used to buy cookies and treats for our troops in Iraq!

But that's not all folks... Congressional Candidate, Dean Andal stopped by our event to say a few words and meet South Bay Republicans.  Dean is running of the seat that Pombo lost.   The 11th Congressional District snakes into Santa Clara County and includes Morgan Hill.  It is a very winnable seat.  After meeting Dean, our members are impressed by this former member of the state legislature as well as a former member of the state board of equalization.

Many thanks to all of those who volunteered their time to make this event happen.  Lisa Billet, a new SVARW member and head of the Conservative Women’s Group who has been working for months to have Melanie come down to the Silicon Valley from her home in Marin County for the event.  A big thanks to Maria and Larry Fischer who once again graciously opened their home for the event.  Lisa Marshik, SVARW Vice President who spent hours and hours putting this event together.  There were many others who volunteered their efforts---that’s what makes our organization work!

Melanie was there for over two hours!!  When she finally left she shared that this was the most fun event that she has taken part in.
